Medical Aesthetics and Skin Health

Everything begins at the cellular level. Skin cells form, wear out, age, and die. The aging process is the natural cycle of the main skin cells, collagen and elastin. However, factors such as the decrease of essential elements in the skin, the accumulation of oxidants, and nutritional imbalances can also accelerate aging. Although the aging process is inevitable, it is possible to slow it down and protect both body and skin health.

Alongside a healthy body, skincare is also essential. Before making any visible changes, supporting overall health and identifying the needs of the skin are the first steps. Medical aesthetics offers numerous methods, each developed to suit different skin types and needs. The key here is to determine the most suitable method based on a professional assessment tailored to the individual. All of these procedures are conducted with Ministry of Health-approved devices and products.

Objectives of Medical Aesthetic Applications

Medical aesthetic procedures are generally performed for three main purposes:

1. Supporting a healthy appearance before skin problems arise
Taking care of the skin from an early age is fundamental to preserving skin health. This includes cleansing the skin, protecting it from UV rays, maintaining a balanced diet, and using medical aesthetic applications as needed. Maintaining healthy skin early in life helps reduce the likelihood of future skin issues.

2. Addressing existing problems and rehabilitating the skin
If our skin appears more worn and damaged than expected for our age, existing problems should be addressed, and deficiencies in the skin corrected. The first step is to consult a medical aesthetics specialist and initiate a treatment program tailored to the skin’s needs. The skin can achieve a healthier, more dynamic appearance with the right methods.

3. Maintaining continuity
The duration of the effects of skin treatments is a frequently asked question. These durations vary based on age, skin type, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Therefore, repeating suitable treatments at regular intervals is essential for long-term well-being. The effect of a treatment depends on the skin’s aging rate and the specifics of the procedure.

To achieve a healthy appearance, the selection of medical aesthetic methods should be tailored to the individual. This process should be planned not only upon request but also based on the doctor’s diagnosis and recommendation. Each treatment should be carefully considered to support skin health and achieve an appearance appropriate for one’s age.

Common Medical Aesthetic Applications

1. Skincare and Use of Products
Regular medical skincare treatments that cleanse, nourish, and remove oxidants from the skin are applied to maintain skin health. In addition, regular skincare using suitable products for the skin’s condition is intended to slow down the aging process.

2. Botulinum Toxin
Botulinum toxin applications aim to soften the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, commonly on the forehead, between the brows, around the eyes, and around the mouth. By temporarily blocking nerve signals, this procedure aims to prevent new wrinkles from forming and reduce the visibility of existing lines.

3. Dermal Filler Injection
Dermal filler injections help address deep wrinkles, hollowness, and volume loss in areas like the under-eye, lips, cheeks, and chin, aiming to support facial structure. This procedure seeks to compensate for the natural reduction of fat tissue and elastin fibers over time. It is crucial that the procedure is performed by an experienced doctor.

4. Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy, which involves delivering vitamins, minerals, and hyaluronic acid directly under the skin, is preferred for reducing fine wrinkles and supporting overall skin health. This treatment is particularly beneficial for those over 35, helping maintain moisture balance and slow down aging on the hands, face, and neck.

5. Peeling
Peeling is performed to remove dead skin cells, clear pores, and reduce pigmentation, aiming to achieve a smoother, healthier appearance. It is essential to check for any active infections on the skin before peeling, ensuring effective and safe cleansing.

6. PRP (Plasma) Treatment
This technique involves injecting platelets derived from the patient’s own blood into the skin to promote cell regeneration. PRP aims to increase skin elasticity, reduce wrinkles, and restore a healthy appearance.

7. Microneedling Fractional Radiofrequency (Gold Needle)
Known as the gold needle, this technique creates controlled micro-damage to activate the skin’s healing process and stimulate tissue renewal. By creating approximately 15,000 micro-points, it triggers fibroblast activation, aiming to reduce elasticity loss and provide a firmer appearance.

8. Carbon Dioxide Fractional Laser
The carbon dioxide fractional laser treatment aims to create controlled micro-damage to the skin to stimulate new cell formation, particularly for improving elasticity loss and fine lines. After the procedure, the skin begins a renewal process.

9. Carbon Peeling
This treatment, combining laser energy with a carbon mask, is designed to refresh the skin’s upper layer, resulting in a more vibrant appearance. Carbon peeling, which stimulates collagen production, targets improved elasticity and reduced appearance of fine lines.

10. Focus Ultrasound (Ultherapy)
Ultherapy, a non-surgical skin tightening method, uses sound waves to affect subcutaneous tissues. This technique aims to strengthen connective tissue under the skin, creating a lifting effect to support the natural firmness of the face.

11. Plasma Energy Applications
Plasma energy is used to reduce deep lines, fine wrinkles, and various skin lesions without damaging the skin’s surface. This method aims to achieve a tightening effect, particularly for eye wrinkles and lines above the lips, without affecting surrounding tissue.

12. Thread Lift for Facial Rejuvenation
Thread lift applications, designed to address facial sagging, provide elasticity and support facial structure. Using PDO or silicone threads, this method is primarily aimed at reducing the appearance of mild sagging.

13. Stem Cell Application
This process uses stem cells derived from the patient’s own blood, skin, or fat, aiming to renew skin tissue and improve skin quality. Stem cell applications are presented as a potent option for mitigating the effects of aging on the skin.
